DUPO, IL – March 7, 2025 – Bluffview Elementary School in Dupo, IL, embraced the joy of reading today during a vibrant celebration of Read Across America Day. Students and staff donned their most creative Dr. Seuss-inspired attire, filling the hallways with whimsical hats, colorful socks, and imaginative costumes.
The highlight of the day was a school-wide "Drop Everything and Read" event, where students in every classroom were treated to engaging stories read by esteemed guest readers from the Dupo community. The impressive roster of readers included local business owners from the Chamber of Commerce, dedicated community workers, supportive school board members, and influential community leaders.
"We are incredibly grateful to our community partners for taking the time to share their love of reading with our students," said Jennifer Donald, special education teacher at Bluffview Elementary. "Read Across America Day is a fantastic opportunity to emphasize the importance of literacy and ignite a passion for reading in our children. The presence of so many key stakeholders today truly demonstrates the strong connection between our school and the community."
We also want to thank Sugarcut Creations by Jen for the delicious cookies we shared with our guest readers.
"It was a pleasure to share a story with the students at Bluffview Elementary," said Peggy Villiger, guest reader from Kuna Foods.
