Boys Track

Running Into This Season

By: Luke Donald and Aubrie Moyer

The track season has started! The team has already broken two indoor school records, the boys 4x800 team consisting of Wyatt Brown, Carter Lumpkins, Tanner Francis, and Aidan Finley. They ran a record 9 minutes and 26 seconds. Braxton Barnett also broke the indoor record for Shot Put after throwing a distance of 13.28 meters. When asked about how he feels now that indoor season has ended Coach Huelskamp said, “Indoor season was an overall success for the team. We were able to knock some of the older school records off the books and compete well against some major schools.”

With the outdoor season starting, the track team kicked off with their first home meet last Wednesday. Although the meet ended early due to bad weather, they have their next meet this Wednesday at home. Field events will start at 4pm and then running events will follow. Coach Huelskamp was asked what he is looking for going into this season and he said, “All I’m looking for in outdoor is building on our success from indoor. I think we have more than a few potential state qualifiers who are going to hit their stride outdoors. As a team I think we can also be competitive for a sectional title.” Good luck this season to the Dupo Tigers track team and hope it’s a great season!
