Dancing to Competition
By: Aubrie Moyer
Competition is in full swing for the Dupo Dance Team. Their first competition was on December 12th at Belleville East. The team placed 1st in both their hip hop and pom routines. The current seniors on the team are Adrienne Latimer and Aubrie Moyer. It’s been a good start to the season so far and Coach Shelley Goddard has expressed, “After a crazy 23-24 season and feeling like we just needed to get through each day, I’m happy with where we are this season. The team has worked hard to prepare two completely different themed routines. This team has a great attitude and willingness to make this a great year. We have our eyes set on state qualifications. It’s not as easy as some think to advance. The girls continue to work hard with the state goal in mind.” The dance team's assistant coach Karleigh Mason says, “The comeback from a very tiring and hardship last year has led us to nothing but supportive and dedication to this upcoming year! The girls are ready and willing to push themselves to show everyone what the Dupo dance team can do!” The next competition will be on January 4, at Edwardsville High School where our two seniors will be debuting their solos.
