Run Fast or Be Last

The 2024 spring track season has begun! The team had the opportunity to have two indoor meets. With the first being boys only on March 1st on the SIU Carbondale campus. Keith West finished 8th in Triple Jump and Deegan Prater placed 9th. The day after that, the girls had their meet. Allison Taylor finished an astonishing 4th place in Shot Put. The second indoor meet was in Jerseyville on March 9th. With strict regulations, only a few athletes were able to compete, but overall the team did exceedingly well.
At the Jerseyville meet, Kayce Yancy broke the Dupo Indoor Record in 60m Dash with a time of 7.52 seconds! We had even more feats like Keith West placing 5th in 60m Hurdles, Deegan Prater placing 4th in Long Jump and 4th place finish in Triple Jump, then Allison Taylor placing 7th in Shot Put. Coach Acra said, ”This is going to be a season of growth, we have started out well and now are ready for the outdoor season. We will be in action this Wednesday at home for our first outdoor meet.”
Finally, the ultimate goal for the track team is to win the conference again for boys and girls. Come out to see our athletes and cheer them on!
