Boys Bowling Team

Going for the Strike

By: August Ross

The boys bowling team has started the season strong with four wins under their belt. On November 28, at the Airport Plaza Bowl in Wood River, both the boys and the girls had a match; the girls won and the boys tied. On November 30th, the team had another match against Lebanon at home. The boys won their match, but the girls unfortunately lost.

Coach Griffin and Coach Smith are new coaches this year. On that note here is a quote from Coach Griffin, “We are doing very well so far this year. The boys are 4-0-1 and the girls are 1-0. Each day, bowlers come to practice and put in a lot of effort out on the lanes. As being one of the lead coaches, there are many new routines this year that we practice and I cannot wait to see how the season goes. We have a tournament coming up soon against many different schools in our area, and I believe that our team will do very well. In all, I enjoy coaching as I get to take over the bowling team fully next year. It brings back the memories of when I was a bowler at DHS, but also when I bowled in college at Lindenwood- getting to know everyone on a personal level and having fun out on the lanes.”

Maddie Ehrhard is the leading bowler for the girls and Matt Hofer for the boys. Let’s congratulate them and wish the team good luck on their next match on December 4th at St. Clair Bowl, versus Lebanon High School.
