Junior High Softball

Tigers Turn The Tides

On September 6th, Dupo’s Jr High Softball Team played against Valmeyer. During the start of the game it was a stalemate with neither team ahead nor behind, but during the 3rd and 4th inning Valmeyer swept Dupo’s feet right out from under them and gained a massive lead, by five runs. Sadly our team didn’t come out victorious that day, they lost 9-4. But not all was lost because they would come back the next day with heads up high and ready to fight.

The next night, Dupo played Smithton and our team was ready to make up for the loss. Both teams put up a fight and neither of them would back down. For three innings we led by one run for a short while, but soon Smithton would take the lead with two runs. But our team wasn’t going to lose again, so when it was our turn to bat, we would score an additional eight runs in the last two innings. Making us win the game, 9-2! Safe to say our team was ecstatic.

Two players who really stood out were #8 Kylie Kloess who hit a home run during both games and #13 Addison Thompson, who has an impressive fastball which caused a lot of enemy batters to strike out. When asked about the two players, Coach James said, “They’re going places if they keep this up.”  The girls’ next game is September 12th at home against Aviston.
